South Africa offers MBAs a blend of traditional business and social enterprise

South Africa is the vibrant soul of the 6th Continent. While South Africa has by far the largest GDP in Africa, it still ranks barely 30th in the world by this measure, with less than 2% of the output of the United States on an annual basis. Yet South Africa captures the hearts of many business leaders, for its social enterprise as much as traditional business and finance. As South Africa continues its march away from Apartheid, it continues to look for ways to economically empower black South Africans and help improve their lives. Many companies and NGOs have been created to assist in this development.

While in South Africa, schools generally visit Johannesburg and Cape Town, with a few heading east to Durban. Occasionally, groups blend in an international business destination like Gaborone, Botswana into the mix. For weekends, groups almost always include a one- or two-night safari in South Africa or Botswana.    Some groups also visit Victoria Falls at Livingstone, Zambia for an added weekend adventure.
