TravelMBA was founded in 1999 by Rick Rosenfeld, an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.

Rick believed there was a need in the marketplace for a company that could translate the travel needs of business school groups into terms that hotels and ground operators around the world could understand. Rick saw the frustration of schools trying to work with international operators who had experience in operating sightseeing tours, but didn’t have the flexibility to arrange customized buses for company visits or hotel conference rooms that could change on short notice. He saw international suppliers pushing unrealistic deadlines for deposits and penalties and believed he could use his prior travel industry experience to create terms that would work for both the students and the suppliers.

TravelMBA’s mission was simple:

Provide busy students and busy administrators a means for arranging flights, hotels, ground transportation, and cultural experiences in a fraction of the time it would take for them to arrange on their own.
Tailor international programs to the needs of each business school and each specific group.
Enlist the help of the highest quality ground operators in each destination country and teach them the unique needs of the MBA group travel market.
Assist students and staff in managing core deadlines for the programs, including those for airline tickets, rooming lists, and visa applications to make sure all critical path tasks are completed on time.
Provide an around-the-clock network of support for the groups during travel to help ensure the best possible in-country experience.

Each year, as its reputation has grown, TravelMBA has added more top-tier business schools to its active client roster. Current clients include more than half of the Top 10 business schools in the United States, and many others throughout the country. In order to augment its services to client schools TravelMBA joined WorldStrides in 2009. TravelMBA coordinates residencies and other travel programs for Full Time, Part Time, and Executive MBA groups.
